The Galt Line is a rootsy, screamin’ swing duo based in the Washington DC metro area. With wide-ranging influences that include R&B, Rockabilly, Western Swing, Jump Blues, and Gypsy Jazz, they have forged a sound that embraces music history without sounding antiquated.
The Frederick Film Festival is proud to kickoff the events leading up to the Fourth Frederick Film Festival with the annual Kickoff Musical Event on June 9 with Maryland’s own first lady of boogie-woogie Deanna Bogart. The event, which starts at 8:30, is sponsored and catered by Brewer’s Alley and the admission price includes food and beverages! Tickets to this year’s event will be limited so an intimate night listening to Deanna Bogart is sure to be an early summer treat not to be missed.
Bogart is known for her amazing live shows that crackle with energy and power and are famous for their effect on an audience. She is, as Downbeat magazine called her, “an extravagant entertainer” and nowhere will that be more apparent than in an intimate venue like the Pavilion at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. A fixture in the Baltimore-Washington music scene for years she has been a part of such acts as Cowboy Jazz and Root Boy Slim. In 1988 she formed her own band and began touring the east and west coasts building an audience and a following that remains fanatically loyal before recording her first album in 1989.
