An unemployed Cowboy who can't find love vows to stay on a barstool for three months hoping to find some answers at the bottom of a beer bottle. Shortly thereafter, he meets a young female art student and quickly forgets his misery. The pair begin to transform each other's worlds while spending time drinking, dancing and examining the mysteries of life. Will the Cowboy finally find love or should he have just stayed on his barstool?

About the Director:

Cinema has been a lifelong love for Mark Thimijan.  In the early part of 2000 he lived and worked in Southern California learning the behind the scenes craft as an assistant director on several feature films.  In 2002 he returned to his roots of Lincoln, Nebraska to pursue a more personal truth in filmmaking.  Inspired by simple stories from European cinema and other countries outside of the U.S., Nebraska has become the backdrop for examining the human condition through regular people enduring day to day triumphs and struggles.  Barstool Cowboy is his first feature length film.

Thimijan says: "The inspiration for Barstool Cowboy comes from the curiosity of exploring how to make love stay.  I’ve always been fascinated with the initial meeting of two new people who are attracted to each other.  At first it can be a very high feeling experience and they count the minutes until they can be in each other’s presence again.  Inevitably the buzz wears off and the two must decide to either push the relationship further or move on.  Where did that high feeling go and why did it have to leave?  Barstool Cowboy introduces us to two people who have recently met and both are interested in a relationship but on very different terms.  Life does not always have a happy ending and Barstool Cowboy examines the peaks and valleys of these realistic encounters."

Director: Mark Thimijan
