Dobler's Pen Productions is a Maryland-based collection of filmmakers who have banded together to give into the ultimate hubris - write, film and star in our own movies.

Truthfully, we are a group who share a love of film and seek to give ourselves and other like-minded artists the opportunity to actually make real movies (with a story!) and participate in the filmmaking process.

The very definition of Independent Filmmakers, Dobler's Pen is a self-financed enterprise making short films in all genres, with the hopes one day of making a feature-length film.

The Dobler's Pen contributions to the program are:

Where’s Duff (drama, 17 min)
What if your life passed before your eyes...and you didn't remember any of it?  Would it still be your life?

Where's Duff? is the story of a husband, father, friend...and a man with Alzheimer's Disease. As his family gathers around to bid him farewell, he takes us on a journey into his past and into his mind.

Based on his Father-in-law, Where’s Duff was written and directed by Gerry Paradiso. It’s Mr. Paradiso’s directorial debut for Dobler’s Pen Productions.

Full Circle (comedy, 19 min)
Ever wonder how seemingly inconsequential events impact the lives of those around you? Full Circle follows a day in the life of 8 seemingly unrelated strangers as their stories intertwine, and shows us what happens when strangers really aren’t.

Written by Frederick-native Dan Franko and directed by Matt Mickelson of Dobler’s Pen Productions, Full Circle was shot in Frederick and Baltimore.

Indie vs. Studio
Indie vs. Studio is a series of shorts, parodying the Get a Mac ads. The series pokes fun at Hollywood and the Studio filmmaking process.

The Indie vs. Studio series was written and directed by Chris Mueller of Dobler's Pen Productions

In addition to the Indie vs. Studio shorts screening during this program block, the shorts will be played throughout the weekend at both venues...slipped in as "commercial interruptions" between features.

Asteros Filmworks is an Annapolis-based film cooperative who have contributed the following films to this showcase:

Aaavocado (comedy, 9 min)
It’s a familiar scene. You walk into the office lunch room anticipating that first bite of the sandwich you’ve been salivating over for the entire morning only to find an empty plate and a few crumbs. Aaavocado is the story of one boss’s search for his missing sandwich….based on actual events.

Written by Maria Triandos and Directed by Demetrea Triantafillides of Goddess Films.

One More Chance (drama/comedy, 3 min)
A man, a bottle of scotch, and a huge problem.

One More Chance was written and directed by Ken Arnold.
