Local artist, Chaz Montgomery is the subject of this six-minute mockumentary, which follows Chaz (played by Erik Hadden), as he attempts to heed his late father’s advice by learning to write on rice.  Produced for the Frederick 72 Hour Film Fest, the story incorporated special criteria given by the festival organizers, and the entire film was conceived, filmed, and edited during a 72 hour period.

The filmmakers, Airrick Glasses Productions, in order to satisfy the contest requirements, had to incorporate a theme suggested by the first line of The Great Gatsby:  "In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since."

Like Write on Rice won the “Best of the Festival,” “Best Acting,” and “Make a Difference” awards.

Airrick Glasses Productions is made up of Erik Secula, Erik Hadden, and Lisa Dodson, all Frederick area residents.  The team formed back in the 1990s when the three members were teenagers.  After about a 15 year absence from the world of amateur filmmaking, the team reunited for the 2007 Frederick 72 Hour Film Fest.

Like Write on Rice was their second collaborative effort after the long break.  The team members strive to not take themselves or their work too seriously, and they definitely will not be leaving their day jobs anytime soon.
